TapScore GenX and PFAS Water Test

SimpleLab™ has developed an advanced analysis test for a group of harmful compounds known as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), which are becoming increasingly commonplace within our environment. This advanced analysis covers 25 PFAS compounds, including Hexafluoropropylene Oxide Dimer Acid, often referred to as GenX. The test is designed to detect these compounds which are notorious for their bioaccumulation within animal and human body tissues, posing potential health risks. PFAS compounds have become a topic of growing concern following the widely reported chemical spill at the Chemours Fayetteville Works in North Carolina in recent years. However, the problem is not isolated to North Carolina, these compounds have been detected across the globe in public water supplies. The threat stems not only from their high levels of environmental stability and endurance but also from their potential to bioaccumulate even at extremely low levels, which have been linked to negative health effects in humans. SimpleLab’s Tap Score water test package has been specifically designed to tackle this problem, providing all the necessary materials needed to correctly collect and submit a water sample for certified laboratory testing. The results report includes a detailed analysis of 25 PFAS compounds, including GenX. The tests employ the EPA Method 533 (or equivalent) and have the ability to detect concentrations less than 2 parts per trillion (PPT). These compounds, often known as "forever chemicals", can be found in a range of everyday products, such as Teflon®, flame retardants, and non-stick items, and have been associated with a range of adverse health effects.
